For the love of continuous improvement
Many of you know we’re fanatical about improvement, particularly continuous improvement. For us, it should be the way of life for everyone – to keep getting better every single day!
We love what we do and have enjoyed designing some fantastic processes and services with our wonderful clients, but there have nearly always been obstacles.
Great, but limited
Most realise the first set of improvements, the future state, the best that can be achieved in a reasonably short time without tackling any major constraints. Don’t get me wrong, the improvements and benefits that can be achieved without touching structures, systems, or without the spending of lots of money is enormous. It’s why we do what we do. Almost all our clients, however, have struggled with the next bit, the most important bit - delivering the full potential of each service or organisation.
We truly believe that our success is measured by how successful you are, so when you don’t reach your maximum potential, we are as frustrated as you.
The ever-present challenge...
The biggest obstacle we’ve experienced? Not people, but systems. “Computer says no”, “that’d take years”, “there isn’t a system that exists for that”, “those systems don’t talk to each other”, “we can do it, but it’ll come at a huge cost”. Argh!! Especially now when so many parts of processes and services are system based.
For years, we’ve battled with how we can overcome these obstacles, but with so many systems out there, the question was ‘how?’. We couldn’t be experts on all systems. Many organisations have opted for off-the-shelf products, where providers promise their product can “do it all” but in reality, is just as costly to deliver and even more costly to customise. This does not align well with continuous improvement. Systems have to evolve with your services, not stagnate and hold you back.
