How to use a RACI matrix

The RACI framework, which is more of a grid than a matrix, is a widely used system for assigning and communicating roles.

How to use it:

1. To create a RACI chart, list all the tasks in the first column and the individuals or teams involved in the top row.

2. In the grid formed against each task, assign an R, A, C, or I to indicate the role of each person or team.

Responsible: You are actively involved in performing the task

Accountable: Ultimately, you bear the responsibility for the task’s outcome

Consulted: Your expertise and input are crucial for the task’s success

Informed: It is important to keep you informed about the task’s progress
